The New York Jets and Cleveland Browns square off for Thursday Night Football in a match-up of two teams looking to prove themselves.
Rookie QB Sam Darnold had a huge week in Week 1, but Week 2 was a bit of a different story. He threw 25-for-41 with 334 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. One of those interceptions came in the end zone right after the Jets recovered a Ryan Tannehill fumble at the Miami 12-yard line – the first play after Bilal Powell’s touchdown put the Jets on the board. The Jets would go on to lose the game
The Browns came close to winning their first game since 2016, but couldn’t pull off the win despite tying the game on a Tyrod Taylor to Antonio Callaway 47-yard touchdown with 1:24 left in regulation. But, the Browns couldn’t pull off the win as kicker Zane Gonzalez missed two extra points and two field goals on Sunday – including a game-tying 52-yard field goal in the last seconds of the game. Gonzalez was waived on Monday and replaced with rookie Greg Joseph.

Cleveland also parted ways with wide receiver Josh Gordon on Monday. Gordon reported on Saturday with a hamstring issue, and according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen had “broken the team’s trust.” He was traded to the New England Patriots for a 2019 fifth-round pick after not playing on Sunday.
Aside from the drama, Taylor had another solid week as he went 22-for-30 with 246 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Cleveland’s defense had three sacks for a combined 30 yards and two forced fumbles. The Browns will be looking to snap a 19-game winless streak.
Jets-Browns head-to-head statistics
The Browns lead this head-to-head match-up with a record of 13-12. However, the Jets have won the last five meetings, including a 17-14 win last season.
Taylor holds a 4-2 career record against the Jets. He has completed 98 of 154 passes for 1,146 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions. He went 1-1 last season with the Bills including a 34-21 loss in Week 8.
Isaiah Crowell returns to Cleveland for the first time since signing with the Jets in the offseason. In four years with the Browns, the running back rushed for 3,255 yards and 23 touchdowns in 66 games.
Morris Claiborne had an interception in Week 1 of the 2018 season. Last season against the Browns he had an interception that he ran back for 28 yards in the Jets 17-14 win in Cleveland.
The Browns are +3.0 point favorites on the road. The over-under is set at 39. This is the first time since 2015 the Browns are the favorite in a game.
